James Kraft, DVM & Dolly

Dr. James Kraft VeterinarianDr. Kraft attended the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas, graduating in 1972 with a Liberal Arts Degree before graduating in 1979 with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.

After graduation he moved to Arizona to work in a mixed animal practice in Phoenix and subsequently moved to Paris, Texas to work in a mixed practice owned by his brother, Wally Kraft, DVM. In 1981 he returned to Lawrence and opened Lawrence Veterinary Hospital. In 1996 he built a new veterinary hospital with room to accommodate more clients, patients and staff.

Dr. Kraft further demonstrates his advocacy for pets having established the Wanda Fund and donating pet oxygen masks to the Lawrence Fire Department. He makes monthly donations to the Kansas State Pet Tribute Fund to honor all those who have shown compassionate care and love for companion animals.

Dr. Jim enjoys travel, fly-fishing, hiking, biking, literature, making wood-fired pizza and shares his home with his wife, two dogs, Dolly and Max and a rescue cat named Ms. Potts (aka Kitty Shamwow Velveeta).

Anna Johnson, DVM & Mona

Dr. Anna & MonaWe welcomed Dr. Anna to Lawrence Veterinary Hospital in 2013. She graduated high school in 1997 with an International General Certification in Secondary Education (IGCSE) from the University of Cambridge, England before graduating in 2004 from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Anna became inspired to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine while she spent her childhood in West Africa and witnessed the lack and desperate need for veterinary care around her. Since obtaining her DVM from Kansas State University, she has worked in a mixed animal practice and an exclusively small animal practice, both in Colorado. She has focused on small animal care since 2009.

Dr. Anna enjoys flower gardening, raising laying hens, baking and making ice cream with her husband and children. She also loves biking and hiking and discovering the world with her family. Her busy household wouldn’t be complete without their family’s research-kitty-turned-house-cat named Mona and the recent addition of their leopard gecko named Sunny.
